Sweet Sleep, Why Do You Escape Me??

Falling asleep after lunch tends to fuck with my ability to fall asleep at night.  Not to mention I don't feel like waking with my alarm in the morning because I was up late.  I feel weirdly tired after doing a few things and my creative juices are less than.  Dealing with healing my sleep patterns has been a large part of my life over this past year.  And yeah, the pandemic closings and such impacted that to some degree but I can’t fault it purely.  I’ve been paying attention to how my sleep has impacted several of my overall health conditions which have definitely impacted my business productivity.  

Physical factors such as health, sleep, nutrition, body image, breathing, exercise, and injury/illness all influence our core energy.  There are six influencers that enhance or detract from our core energy and physical is one.  Our physical energy tends to be more measurable and energy’s physical manifestation is far easier to see than say mental or environmental influencers.  I can see how tired I look after a shitty night’s sleep, bags under my eyes and puffy face.  Others can see it too.  Fuck it all to hell.  I don’t want to be sleepy and look like it too!?!

When your health isn’t optimal like maybe you got a cold or a headache, your ability to function at high levels is gonna be slowed down.  If you’re not eating nutritious foods and drinking water, that all impact your overall health.  If you forget to eat, or just don’t have time, you may grab any old thing and then feel even worse afterward because that wasn’t the fuel your body needed.  It doesn’t need more sugar, more caffeine, or more processed foods.  So then your performance begins to take a hit.  You hit an afternoon slump.  You procrastinate on that business project.  You feel overwhelmed with your task list and you’re sleepy af and you try to power through but end up making more mistakes that require your attention later.  

Physical influencers are creating added benefits to your overall energy and success when you’re firing on all cylinders, i.e. getting good sleep, eating well, exercising, healthy, vital, and full of energy.  They also are creating stress for you if any or all of those things are not going so well.  Like my sleep.  My sweet lovely sleep, I’m coming back.  Bear with me.  I’m figuring some things out one step at a time.  

So what can we do as business owners to create positive outcomes via our physical influencers?  Make a list of the kinds of potential ‘physical’ ingredients for your conscious leadership success.  Include what you already do now that’s working well.  Figure out what you tried before and see if you want to try anything new or retry some things with a fresh vibe.  Create your own personal physical success.  Who do you have to be in order to have the physical influencer work for you?

I’m focusing on my sleep by getting back to my wind down evening routine. Turning off electronics 1 hour before bed.  Meditating and listening to chakra balancing music to slow down and prepare my mind for rest.  I set intentions on creating a wonderful night’s sleep and I’m getting up at the same time every morning.  I have a longer list of the success habits for this but I’m focusing on sleep first.  One thing at a time.  Your business thrives when you thrive.  When you are feeling healthy and vibrant, you come up with creative solutions to your problems and you have greater access to your core energy so you can create the kind of success you desire.
